Many people take having a child for granted and couples often don’t think about fertility issues until they start to experience problems themselves. Of course, it isn’t just so called ‘traditional’ couples that want to have children nowadays. From single parents to civil partnerships, everyone should enjoy the right to have their own children. Fertility clinics deal with all sorts of people who are desperate to give a good home to a much longed for child, and can offer help and advice where it is needed most. A recent report has revealed that the population of Great Britain is due to rise by nearly 10 million over the next 25 years. As such, it is important that people who deserve to be parents get the help that they need to be a part of that figure.
It is expected that over 70 million people will be living in the UK by 2037. Whilst this will obviously include a number of new migrants to the country, birth rates are sure to have a role in the expected rise. Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures project that the population will rise from 63.7 million in mid 2012 to 73.3. million in mid 2037.
However considering the problem of an increasingly ageing population, it is more vital than ever to ensure that birth rates stay high. As society grows older there will have to be a strong system in place for younger people to help contribute and look after their elders. Fortunately, it is believed that there will be 5.4 million more births than deaths over the next 25 year period. Richard Pereira, head of population statistics for the ONS, said:
“These population projections are used across Government in terms of setting policy, they are used by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) as a key input for their long-term fiscal projections, they are used by the Department for Work and Pensions for policy on benefits and pensions, and they are used by people like the Department for Education.”
Such reports are likely to have little bearing on the people who need help to have children now. Many single women are turning to the idea of using sperm banks in order to get pregnant. After all, the process of using artificial insemination kits is often a much more attractive option as opposed to having the responsibility of having a baby with a person that you don’t want to be with. However, anyone thinking of going down this route should make a consultation with a highly respected and legitimate clinic first.
It is only natural to have questions about the fertility process, and it is important to get information from professional sources. Whilst there is never a 100% guarantee that fertility treatment will work, it cannot be doubted that successful treatment has the ability to transform and create new lives. The UK may be facing the difficulties that will come from increased population numbers, but as long as there are good parents the kids should be ok.
