During a recession it’s always tempting to cut corners in the hope of saving money. This is particularly true with jobs around the house. After all, many of us are more than happy to roll up our sleeves and get stuck into a bit of D.I.Y if we really have to.

But while putting up a shelf or doing a spot of painting usually comes with minimal risk, there are some tasks that really are best left to professionals, and despite what you might think, cleaning your drains is one of them! If you are suffering Blocked drains  Here are just a few reasons why you should probably call in the experts if your drains are blocked, rather than trying to sort out the problem yourself.

City life

If you live in a large town of a city the drainage system is under a huge amount of pressure, and clogged drains are a common problem. Tackling the problem yourself could be akin to opening the proverbial can of worms, as suddenly you are faced with a blockage you can’t deal with and a mess you didn’t expect. A professional will be able to solve the problem with minimal disruption.

If you do live in an area with a large population, such as , it could be worth considering a regular visit from your drainage company to assure that considerable blockages are not allowed to build up. There are many drainage services but make sure you do your homework to ensure that drainage company you choose comes well recommended.

The right tools

Scrabbling around in the garage, searching through boxes for the right tools while secretly unsure of what’s needed – does this sound like you? Too often we use the wrong tools for the job, causing us to do more damage than good while leaving the problem unsolved. A professional drainage company has years of experience with the knowledge to successfully locate, diagnose and solve the problem, no matter how large. And of course they have the tools to match their professionalism, such as high-pressure jet units to thoroughly clean your drains.

Say no to chemicals

Even if you do go to the store to buy a product specifically designed for the job of cleaning your drains, it is still unlikely to be a product used or recommended by professionals. Chemical drain cleaner is one such example. Despite its claims it is just a temporary fix at best and one that can in some cases result in costing you more money.

Chemical cleaner will often dissolve and erode your pipes, particularly if its used frequently, leaving you with a larger, more costly job on your hands. It’s also not used by professionals because of the damage it does to the environment.

They’re professionals!

This probably seems like stating the obvious but professional drainage companies like Jet Through Drain Cleaning don’t just clean your drains successfully, they do it in style, thanks to years of experience. This means, in simple terms, minimal fuss and minimal mess – possibly the opposite of what might occur if you attempted to tackle the problem yourself!
